bonne terre…
May 2012
It came as a pleasant surprise when I was recently asked to capture some images of a start-up farm project ‘Bonne Terre’; established with a view to providing fresh organic produce to a family of Victoria, BC restaurants (see links below). All three establishments are well known to us, not only because we’ve visited often and found the food and service to be exemplary, but because our dear friends James & Andrea make their living from them (part ownership/management).
In 2011 the owner, Mike Murphy, had a vision of growing and supplying fresh produce, eggs etc. to the restaurants in a ‘farm-to-fork’ concept, and in order to realize this, purchased a property on the outskirts of Victoria. With much enthusiasm, effort and hard graft by all involved, the property has become Bonne Terre Farm. Although still in the early stages of development, but with a regular yield of fresh herbs, greens and eggs (delicious!), I just know this is going to be a huge success.
Below are some shots I took during my first visit and I hope to continue documenting progress as the farm manures….oops, I mean matures!
